With Auto Tag From Filenames, you should be able to use the following for your examples. You need to check "Advanced Mode" in order to type in and edit the "Expected File Name Format" text field.
For: (XX) <Song Title> Use: (<TrackNr>) <Title>.mp3
For: (XX)<Song Title> Use: (<TrackNr>)<Title>.mp3
Obviously the same thing, with a space as the difference. When you're using the auto-tag tools you're telling it what to "expect" in the filenames. If there are parentheses in the filename, you can use the advanced mode and add parentheses where necessary. Don't forget that you can save these custom settings as presets - just click the little plus sign button (+) and it's saved. From then on you can use the drop-down menu (click the down-pointing arrow button to the right of the text field) to select your custom preset. This helps a lot if you need to rename a lot of files with similar naming styles.
