I've noticed an odd pattern in which files show up with the time and frame count in red, i.e. MTS claims the VBR needs fixing.

It seems to happen in sub-directories which I have created, e.g. to seperate a group of symphonies which I downloaded as a single "album".  In these the first file in the directory is reported as needing fixing, but none of the others are.

I'm not sure that this always happens, and I do know that I sometimes get a whole directory with "bad" files, but it seems strange that in all of such a set of sub-directories all of the first files and none of the others should be flagged as "bad".

Any comments?  Any further testing I could do?

One additional piece of information: most (perhaps all) of these files, with their directory structures, have been previously dumped onto CDRs, and then read back into the computer.  In general I have NOT turned off the "read-only" bit, since MTS seems to ignore it.  Admittedly, I have just gone and reset the read-only property on all of these files without it making a difference in the reporting of the first file in each sub-directory having a bad VBR header.

My guess would be that you or some program has added some tag information to these "red" files, which modified their size slightly, to create a mismatch with the VBR header. If you send me one of them I can verify it for you if you like.

At this point I've cleaned up all the ones I know of.  I'll keep my eyes open for a recurence, and when I see one I'll send it along.  Thanks.
