Topic: Using a Cd Database as a Tagging Option< Next Oldest | Next Newest >

I often use Mp3 tag studio to name files all belonging to single albums, as i know many do.

I use one of the internet CD databases to automatically title and tag my mp3s when i rip them from CDs.

It would be convenient if somehow Mp3 tag studio could access one of these databases so that users could enter the artist or album name and then select the particular album from the database and then use the id3 info contained within to tag files.  This way i could get the database info for albums that weren't properly tagged from the database originally.

I dont know if this would be possible (As i dont know if the information can be accessed through any method other than the original CD's fingerprint, and i dont know if all of these databases cost money).

Thanx, and i love the program

Such a feature might be in a future version, yes.

It is possible to get such info from some databases, even without the original CD, but it is more unreliable than using the original CD fingerprint.

Another tool, Ultratagger, solves this problem in an elegant way: If no (or an incorrect) match is found (if the mp3s are not exactly the right length, I presume) you have the option to search freedb manually in your browser, and enter the corresponding ID in the program. Even if you lack a track you can use freedb by copying some other track and put it where the missing track should have been. Neat!

As Tag Studio is the better program overall, I would love for this feature to become a part of it...
