-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Working with non-mp3 files started by calberga Posted by: calberga on Mar. 01 2008,18:31 I just discovered that "Browse/Edit" will display and change tags on .FLAC files. "Wonderful!" I said, thinking that I could do some tricks. But then I found that neither "Tag from filenames" nor "Tag from List" works. Which of these is the error? Allowing editing of individual files, or not allowing mass tagging? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 06 2008,12:04 Most tag writing tools don't support "incorrect filenames", while the tag "reading" tools do, e.g. the rename tools. This is because in the past, mp3 files were often downloaded from the web, with completely messed up filenames, in order to be hidden on free webhosting services (actually, this is the original reason for Mp3/Tag Studio being created, as a private tool of mine ![]() Posted by: calberga on Mar. 06 2008,16:08 Note that the tag reading part of Create Custom List doesn't work with non-standard file names. So, if I were to change the file extension to .mp3, use m/tS to write tags, and then change the extension back to .flac would things work? Let me explicate. I want to convert the .flac files to .mp3 files, but the conversion program I have (Switch) doesn't retain the tags. So I want to save them, then use Tag-from-List to restore them. Or, is there some other way to solve this problem? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 07 2008,14:54 In the worst case, rename the flac files with the direct rename tool, perform the operation you want on them, as mp3 files, and then rename them back. The entire procedure could be saved as a macro too. ![]() end |
