-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Suggestions +---Topic: FreeDB started by peterg70 Posted by: peterg70 on April 13 2003,07:26 There are times when i can't for the sake of mind remeber what the name of the song is from the file name. Would it be possible to have a lookup button that queries the local FreeDB or Online FreeDB to look up the closest match. Then By clicking on the appropriate album Song Import it into the ID tags. This should have Track Number / Year / type etc all from the FreeDB database. < http://www.freedb.org > Note the freedb can be installed locally and Is GPL not like gracenotes CDDB Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 13 2003,19:46 What do you mean with "freedb can be installed locally"? Do you have only your own database then, in which you insert all the content yourself, or what do you mean? Posted by: peterg70 on April 16 2003,13:39 You can download the whole FreeCD database which details artist, song, album etc for cd's released. It is normally used to to lookup the CD IDnumber from a music CD and fill in the ID3 Tags when creating/ripping Mp3s. I was hoping to type or use the current filename to do a lookup in this database and show closest matches. Then link the the data to the MP3 and click update to update the naming of the MP3 and filling in the ID3 tag.
