-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Suggestions +---Topic: Install dir started by ZkilfinG Posted by: ZkilfinG on Aug. 07 2002,11:54 I love mp3ts and have been a registered user for two years or so and I think you're doing a great job, keep it up! I hope more people will register, so that you can afford working on this project. Anyway, I was wondering why different versions install to different directorys? Is there any good reason for this? Last version (2.17) I installed to "Mp3-Tag Studio" (without " 2.17") and when installing 3.0 I simply choosed that same directory, and it seem to work without any problems. The bad thing with this is I ended up with two versions in add/remove programs. I thought that perhaps it would be bad to remove 2.17, but I tried it anyway, and it seem to work fine. But since I can't see any reason to keep multiple versions installed (at least not if one install to the same dir) I think this should be done automaticly. And I also think, if you have no good reason for it of course, that the default directory should be "Mp3-Tag Studio" and not "Mp3-Tag Studio x.xx". Posted by: Magnus Brading on Aug. 07 2002,19:12 The different directories are partly a remainder from earlier, when there were some problems with the installer I was using. It seemed not to completely overwrite files sometimes if you installed it over an old version, so I suggested a new directory for each installation. But that's also exactly what it is, a suggestion, you can choose any directory you like to install it to (but I understand that it might be annoying anyway). The problem with multiple entries in the "installed programs" list is due to the stupid installer program I am using. It refuses to let me upgrade the current entry when installing a new version. ![]() Anyway, this is already on my list of things to fix in the future, thanks for reminding me again! end |
