-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Suggestions +---Topic: tag search function started by skibum Posted by: skibum on April 24 2003,22:15 I've only been using the program for a short while, and one think I would like is the ability to search tags for things. For example :- searching for tags without genre or with no year or no comment etc etc Also, it would be nice if a little (or not) database could be built in maybe xml format, and allow using your favourite editor to then edit the xml info and reload it back to the real mp3 files. My directory structure is :- <drive>\mp3\<artist>\album Thanks Andy Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 25 2003,12:27 ---------------------QUOTE------------------- I've only been using the program for a short while, and one think I would like is the ability to search tags for things. Simply use the "create custom lists" tool (also in the file tools toolset) to create the XML list, and then use the "Tag/rename from list" tool to import the data to any mp3 files again. Posted by: skibum on April 25 2003,18:30 In the words of Homer Simpson. DOH!. Not sure how I missed it all, I spent ages looking. I did notice 1 thing that could be improved. I setup my filter to do a mass tagging. Before letting it loose, I ran it in preview mode. When it finished I looked at what it was going to do and then hit the 'now do it' button. However, it started the searching again. Surely it could just process the list thats in the window it just displayed? Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 25 2003,20:49 The scanning/filtering process takes up quite a small part of the total processing time, so there's not much to win there. Also, if applying directly from the preview results, I would not know if the user had processed the files with some other tool inbetween, or done any other changes to them, so it would only complicate things in that aspect too. Also, having it like it is right now makes the code for the preview/apply functionality more general between the tools, and in turn less prone to bugs. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. ![]() end |
