-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Problem correcting VBR headers started by randyr Posted by: randyr on Jan. 23 2005,19:40 Hello Magnus, I am having a problem with the section of the program which is designed to repair VBR headers. I have many (about 10,000) files which were encoded with a Xing VBR at 320K, but the file info on all of them has bitrate=32k. Needless to say, the duration of these songs is way off. I tried using MP3Tag/Studio to correct this problem, but its results too were way off. It changed the bitrate to 106 and the length to 9:28. The CORRECT numbers (as calculated by FooBar) are bitrate=202 and duration/length=4:57. Interestingly, the correct VBR (202) is reported by MP3/Tag Studio in the "Browse/Edit Tags & Flags" section BEFORE the repair, but is changed to the incorrect value (103) after the repair. Similarly, the song length reported there prior to the repair (4:59) is VERY close to the actual length of 4:57, but this info too is changed to an incorrect value of 9:28 after repair. Any idea what to do?? Thanks, Randy Also, prior to Posted by: randyr on Jan. 23 2005,23:28 Magnus, One other piece of info you might find helpful... There is a program called vbrfix at http://www.willwap.co.uk/Programs/vbrfix.php that properly corrects the headers. It is open source, so you might be able to identify where your algorhythm differs. Randy Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 23 2005,23:35 Thanks for the info, if you send me a sample file having this problem I can take a look at it. Posted by: randyr on Jan. 23 2005,23:42 Magnus, How exactly do I send you the file as an attachement? Do you have an e-mail address I should use? Randy Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 24 2005,12:12 Yes, there is an email address on the "Contact info" page of the Mp3/Tag Studio website (http://www.magnusbrading.com/mp3ts). (I don't want to put it here in text format, for spam reasons) Posted by: randyr on Jan. 24 2005,15:25 File attachment was bounced...too big. Suggestions? Randy Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 24 2005,15:37 Try to cut off a chunk of it in the end (keeping 1-2 MB should suffice) with the trime tool (if the size calculation is incorrect there too you might have to try different cut-times to get it right). Posted by: randyr on Jan. 24 2005,16:05 Magnus, Sent you 2 files. Please ignore first one ("If it doesn't come naturally). It doesn't work either, but info in e-mail is incorrect regarding correct values. I sent you "Midas Shadow" and correct info on that file. It is smaller so should go through. Randy PS: I have more if you need them...plenty more... end |
