-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Weird Glitch started by ChronusDark Posted by: ChronusDark on Jan. 21 2004,14:07 occasionally when i would mass set the comments tag a few of my songs title and artist fields would get a T appened for no apparent reason??? is this a bug, or just me? its not a big prob but kinda annoying and time consuming thanks in advance Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 21 2004,14:33 I have never heard anything even remotely similar to this before, it sounds very strange. Does this "T" show up in Mp3/Tag Studio immediately after the tagging, or in some other software? (a miscalculation of frame size in other software could easily cause such a thing) If you have any file that can reproduce such behavior it would be nice if you sent it to me, and I will analyze it. Posted by: ChronusDark on Jan. 21 2004,15:32 i noticed it just after i tagged them and imported the mp3's into winamp 5.01 artist names and track names were changed like this Huey Lewis and the News to Huey Lewis and the NewsT and yes the actual tag was modified i checked it in 3 other apps. im at school right now but i will try to post one of the mp3's for you to see when i get home thanks again Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 21 2004,16:35 Ok, it will be interesting to see. Please give me a sample file that will get this effect when processing it in Mp3/Tag Studio, but does not have it yet (so that I can reproduce any possible problem). It would be interesting to see a file that already has the problem too though, in case I cannot reproduce it myself. Also, you say you see the "T" it in many different tools, but do you see it in Mp3/TagStudio at all (e.g. in the browse tool)? Posted by: ChronusDark on Jan. 22 2004,05:12 do you have MSN messenger or something like that... i use hotmail and it wont let me attach the file Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 22 2004,18:43 If you contact me by email we can arrange something. Posted by: juglesh on Feb. 10 2004,22:13 hello, i have this problem also, but not exactly as ChronusDark says. the problem stems from tagging files with foobar2k. .< http://www.foobar2000.org > (with id3v2 support) you should be able to reproduce with any file. 1. tag files with mbts or eac or wht ever. tags look good in fb2k, winamp, mbts. 2. use almost any tagging feature in fb2k (via pluggins) 3. view file with mbts, a T will be appended to artist, album, title, comment, and trk# will be set to 00 (mbts v2.x) or the correct # but with a C or other letter, and will be shown in red(mbts v3.x). ---this will be in id3v2 only not v1. 4. tags will appear correct in fb2k, winamp, or dbPowerAmp. so, not sure if its mbts bug or fb2k, but please have a look. thanks for your time, Posted by: Magnus Brading on Feb. 10 2004,23:40 Thanks for the info. But could someone please upload such a sample file here anyway? I have very little time to experiment with that other software to find the problem, all I need is a single sample file to analyze. Posted by: juglesh on Feb. 11 2004,05:29 uploading affected file now. create tags with mbts looks good in winamp, fb2k, mbts, dbpoweramp add 1999 in year tag using foobar2000 v2 tags now show T appended to artist, album, title, comment deleted, trk#0, C after the 1999 in year. --only mbts shows these T,C,0 . winamp, dbpower amp and fb2k shows both v1 and v2 to be the same. v1 tags look good all around. Posted by: juglesh on Feb. 16 2004,20:40 find anything out? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Feb. 16 2004,21:50 Yes, the problem seems to be that these tags are written in Unicode mode. I have never seen any program writing ID3v2 tags in Unicode mode before, so I have never really had the opportunity to test the code for this in Mp3/Tag Studio. There is most likely a bug in this code, and I will take a closer look at it and try to fix it. Thanks for the report and sample files! Posted by: juglesh on Feb. 17 2004,02:30 awesome! thats it. fb2k has an option in the 'id3v2 tag support' pluggin: ' write ISO-8859-1 tags instead of UTF-16' checking that box fixes the problem, the tags get filled correctly and they are still sync'd (as reported by mbts) here is a thread with the author of that pluggin: < http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.p....=137979 > talking about iso vs utf problems. cool, thanks for your time and great program. i love it. end |
