Maybe this is a sophmore question...but, how can I insert special characters (i.e. / " ? etc.) into the tag where Windows will display it without substituting the standard dash?

I'm not completely sure what you mean. Those characters will not be modified when put into tags, which is what you seem to talk about? :confused:

On the other hand, when you try to put them into a filename, they will be substituted with a dash, because they are illegal to have in filenames, the operating system simply won't permit it (and there's nothing that anyone can do about that).
