-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Why so much flickering on startup? started by EddyGeez Posted by: EddyGeez on Aug. 13 2002,23:18 In both 2.18 and 3.0, when you select a directory, right click and choose "Edit this directory in Mp3/Tag Studio" there is a lot of screen flickering (at least under Win2K; not sure about other versions). I can perceive at least 15 "flickers" in the various Explorer windows I have open at the time. I realize this is a cosmetic issue, but it is annoying... Any chance of getting rid of the flashing? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Aug. 14 2002,02:48 I have not been able to pinpoint the exact reason for this flickering, but if I do, I'll be sure to fix it. Thanks. Posted by: gwiner on Jan. 26 2003,05:04 If this gives you any clues, here's a little more info... I'm using a dual monitor system, and the flickering seems localize to the far edge of the right-side of the desktop. It appears as if something is trying to resize the window and align it across some axis which takes a while. After this process, the window pops into view on the center of the left desktop. I'm wondering if due to something trying to recalculate the center of the primary monitor. Anyway, not sure if that's of any value, but I thought I'd mention it... Posted by: Fiddleminger on Feb. 17 2003,04:03 Yeah, I've always seen this flickering too, on every startup. I've run TS only on W2K, but have seen this through every service pack and on at least three different video cards. On one startup out of maybe 15, the screen flickers and the program never manages to start. Usually a second try gets it going. As far as I know, the flickering is only cosmetic. I'm not aware of any problem that it has caused. I wouldn't mind getting a hold of the the debug version to see if the no-start situation can be pinned down. It may help Magnus to know that it always starts up pointed to a directory on a (fully functioning) mapped drive.
