There's no doubt that MP3 Tag Studio is the best. There's only one crucial feature lacking: the need to connect to a CD database the way MusicMatch's Smart Tag feature does.

CDex and other programs access an open source data base. How hard would it be for MP3 Tag Studio to interface with it to provide the same functionality that MusicMatch's Smart Tag feature delivers?

There has been some discussions about this subject around here before, please use the board search function with e.g. "CDDB" to find them.

The biggest reason for not supporting it in Mp3/Tag Studio is the inaccuracy in CDDB-like databases, which is even increased when not using the original CD:s. I haven't seen that MusicMatch feature myself though.

Thanks for the response, Magnus.

The CDDB function in MusicMatch works really well. Let's suppose I have "Rolling Stone" in the artist field and "Blown Sugar" in the title field. MusicMatch, using some sort of database will guess that the artist really should be "The Rolling Stones" and the title really should be "Brown Sugar" and it will also tell me that the song is available on the "Sticky Fingers" album and the release date was 1971.

MusicMatch's "smart tag" feature is by no means perfect, but it's pretty darn accurate, and as long as MP3 Tag Studio doesn't have this functionality I'm going to have to have to use at least two tag editors. Of course, I'd love to simply junk MusicMatch, which is why I'm writing here.

Cheers.

Dang
