-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Importing from List started by Skeezix Posted by: Skeezix on June 29 2007,07:14 I'm having a hard time grasping the big picture of this function. When TS imports a record from a list into a file, how does it know which file to import to? There must be SOME kind of corelation to ensure the tag info in a given record is written to the correct file. How does one set this up? Posted by: Blizz on June 29 2007,11:48 Do you mean the Tag/Rename from list? The records should be in the same order as the files in your file window. So the first file will be linked with the first line in the file you are importing from Posted by: Skeezix on June 29 2007,16:25 Okay, I understand. I have some files I downloaded and burned to CDs. I listened to the CDs and decided I don't like one of them, so I deleted the files from the HD. I would like to somehow note that fact in the mp3ts database so I don't download the files again in the future. Any suggestions how I could track that in mp3ts?? Or suppose I buy more CDs but don't want to put those on the HD. Is there a way to catalog those? Posted by: Magnus Brading on July 02 2007,12:17 The situation you refer to is only the simplest/quickest one. As you see in the controls, you could also explicitly fetch the target filename/path from the list rows themselves, which will make it work no matter how many other files you rename or delete. About your last question, Mp3/Rag Studio isn't really a database/archiver program, so the only feature which will help you keep track of your collection is the list maker tool I guess. Do you recall offhand perhaps a thread that describes this a bit? I only just recently began keeping one track from albums that I don't like just so I have something that will "show up" in my lists to remind me not to d/l those albums again. I use mp3ts to create a list that I then import into Excel so I can edit the frames. Once the Excel file is the way I want it, I'll use it to rewrite the tags in all my files. I suppose I could do that with mp3ts but with years of experience with Excel and only a few days with mp3ts, I feel better if I "crutch" it for while.
