Hi. I am a bit bewildered ... I tried to add lyrics (SYLT field) to an mp3 file, and I thought the way to go would be

browse/edit tags > advanced id3v2 info > add new frame

but in the frame-type drop down list there is no SYLT field.
However, if you go to "mass clean up tags" and click "more fields", SYLT is there!

How come?
And what do I have to do, to add a SYLT field?

many thanks

Certain more complex non-text-only ID3v2 fields are not supported for adding and editing in Mp3/Tag Studio, even though you can both remove them and process tags that contain them already without any problems.

No, SYLT is not a text-only ID3v2 field, it contains a bunch of binary info along with the lyrics, including inline time-sync information inside the lyric text data itself etc.

Okay, sorry you are right. I thought you were arguing that the timecodes wouldn't amount to text whereas I held that digits are text, too. But in reality it seems that there is indeed binary encoding involved in SYLT, whereas I (erroneously) thought that SYLT would follow the same encoding scheme as lyrics3v2 tags and .lrc files, namely:

Code Sample
[00:50.03]Starting from here,let's make a promise
[00:54.06]You and me,let's just be honest
[00:57.49]We're gonna run, nothing can stop us
[01:01.15]Even the night that falls all around us
[01:04.86]Soon there will be laughter and voices
[01:08.80]Beyond the clouds over the mountains
[01:12.35]We'll run away on roads that are empty
