Hi,

I have extra spaces in some tags. I thought I'd be able to remove them enmasse by checking the box that says "Case Fix and Replace" and then choosing "Trim Leading/Trailing Spaces" and "Clean Out Multiple Spaces Between Words" but that doesn't seem to work. Can someone please help?

The casefix utility must be used together with any of the tools of Mp3/Tag Studio to have any effect, it does not process files by itself.

I would suggest that you used it together with the "Direct tag manipulation" tool, and its preset "Full tag casefix".

If you don't want the letter cases of the tag contents to be affected at the same time, choose the capitalization mode "leave as is" inside the casefix settings.

That should accomplish exactly what you want.

That's exactly what I'm doing, and yet, spaces at the end of the Artist and Track Title tags remain after I click execute.

I'm using version 3.05 on XP Sp1. I have all the Letter Case Fix set to Leave As Is, and I have the boxes for  Trim Leading/Trailing Spaces, Clean Out Multiple Spaces Between Words, Artist Field, Title Field and Album Field checked.

But when I click OK and then click Execute, I'm stuck with the same darn spaces at the end of the Artist and Track fields that I had to begin with.

Any idea what's up?

I wonder if this will help. On the 'casefix and replace setup panel' ie where you tick 'trim leading trailing spaces', have you also ticked all the boxes in the 'where to apply' section?

Magnus
I found the direct tag manipulation tool confusing at first for this reason. When I selected eg artist to artist it wouldn't perform casefix until I stumbled on the fact that the 'where to apply box' also had to be ticked.
Now in full casefix, genre and year are also shown as being processed, but as there is no 'where to apply' box for these they aren't changed. Same if I try a direct tag manipulation on any other addidional text field. This applies to substring replacements as well as removing spaces.

Sounds very strange Dang, it works flawlessly when I try it. Could you please send me a sample mp3 file for which it does not work, and screenshots of your settings (both for the casefix tool and the direct tag manioulation tool)?

And Tony, yeah, I guess this particular combination might be somewhat confusing at first glance. :(

Magnus,

I discovered after my latest post that MP3tagstudio was removing spaces from v1, but since my files have both v1 and v2, I didn't notice. It appears I need to select the Full Tag Casefix in pressettings and then execute, yes?

Thanks for all your help, by the way.

Yes, you must have mistakenly selected the "v1 casefix" preset instead of the "Full tag casefix" preset. Just use the "Full tag casefix" and it should work fine.
