I'm using version 3.05 under Win2k, and the Dirtree compatibility fix option is checked.  Here is a description of the problem:

1. Use the Explorer View to access some files in a subfolder someplace.

2. Exit the program.

3. Start the program again.  The Explorer View will remember where it was the previous time, but it cannot be used to change to a different subfolder in the same branch of the directory tree.  However, it will work on a branch located on a different drive.

A workaround is to always point the Explorer View to the desktop prior to exiting the program.

In exactly what way can it "not be used to change to a different subfolder in the same branch"? Do you click all the different folder names, but nothing happens? Is there any error message? Does it work if you click some other folder name (outside the branch)? What if you then click a directory in the original branch again, still nothing? Hmm, sounds very strange...

It doesn't seem to recognize that other folders in the same branch may also have subfolders - the '+' symbol to the left of them is missing.

> Do you click all the different folder names, but nothing happens?

Correct.

Is there any error message?

No.

> Does it work if you click some other folder name (outside the branch)?

It only works for folders on a different drive.

> What if you then click a directory in the original branch again, still nothing?

Still nothing.

When the program starts it remembers the exact path last used.  But it doesn't seem to detect that other folders along the same branch may have subfolders.

> Hmm, sounds very strange...

Yes it is.  Fortunately it is also very repeatable, at least for me.

BTW, in spite of this minor bug I love the program.  I've retagged tens of thousands of mp3's with it and it has saved me a ton of work.  I'm a very happy registered user.

If you press F5 to update the explorer dirtree, is the problem still there?

If you doubleclick the folders that have subfolders but no "plusses" on them, will they expand then?

And I'm glad you like the program, thanks for being honest and registering.

> If you press F5 to update the explorer dirtree, is the problem still there?

No, the tree gets refreshed and then the plusses show up like they should.  Once the plusses show up I can then navigate into the subfolders.

> If you doubleclick the folders that have subfolders but no "plusses" on them, will they expand then?

No.  If there are no plusses shown then a doubleclick will not expand the subfolders.
end
