In case anyone else has tried to compact their mp3s as much as possible and reduced the "Default ID3v2 padding size" setting in MP3TS's "Tagging Core" preferences to the minimum of 1, I'd suggest that you might want to now increase it to at least 6.

In upgrading my Winamp version from 5.01 to 5.05, I suddenly lost a record of some of the ID3v2 tags (I only use v2) when scanning my collection in Winamp's Media Library.  Most of the information that was "lost" was track numbers, but a few v2 years, and on rare occasions, an album name was also missing.

So far, retagging the files with the suggestion mentioned first (not rewriting the data itself... it was still there, Winamp just didn't see it) has seemed to work.  I'm betting that this is basically a Winamp 'bug/feature'.  Perhaps they skip a few frames while reading the data in order to scan the library faster.  Hopefully they don't skip more than six.

Thanks for the info about this (seemingly) Winamp bug. :)

I'm happy to see that i'm not the only one with this Problem! I have the same problem since i have upgradet to newer winamp versions.
I have replaced the in_mp3.dll by in_mp3.dll of an older Winamp version (5.01). This works, so i think it is a bug of the new winamp version. But they haven't fixed it in 5.08. Damn!
