First of all, MP3TS is a great program and shows an awful lot of work (and thinking) went into it.  I registered it last week, primarily because it has so many features and has access to so many different ID3v2 tags.  Thanks.

It has so many features, actually, that it can probably never have enough to satisfy everybody (the more ya get, the more ya want! :p).  Here are some suggestions for things I would like to see added.

First and foremost, a Property Sheet extension!  (Someone elsewhere asked for a quicker way to edit tags from the Shell Extension pop-up -- what could be quicker than a Property Sheet?)  Knowing that Property Sheets are limited in size, perhaps there could be options added to the main program to choose which extended tags (maybe a total of 6 optional ones) should be shown in the sheet, in addition to the main ones.  I've searched high and low (Tucows, Downloads.com, etc) for a simple ID3 tag Property Sheet handler and have only been able to find one single program that implements it.  Unfortunately, it was written for NT and continually crashed my Win98 Explorer shell.

You say in another post that the ID3v2 standard already includes a tag for lyrics.  Where is it in MP3TS?  I can't even find it in the list of additional frames in the Advanced ID3v2 Info pop-up (I'm doing all my editing from the Browse/Edit tags & flags tab).  Even if it were there, I certainly wouldn't want to enter lyrics into a one-line text box.  There needs to be a box of some sort to display the lyrics.  Am I missing it?  Also, when I edit MP3's with lyrics already imbedded (by TagScanner), they show up in MP3TS, in Additional Frames, as "Unsupported binary data"!  Binary?  They're just plain text, as far as I know.

Speaking of text boxes: Please enable word wrapping in the larger, multi-line boxes (i.e., Comments)!  You have that nice big box for Comments on the Advanced ID3v2 Info pop-up, but the typing just runs on and on.  I don't want to enter hard returns in any of the fields, as every program uses different size boxes to display tag info.  Text that looks right with hard returns in MP3TS would look awful in another program with smaller text boxes.

That's enough for now (I'm sure I'll be able to think of some more for a future posting).  These are all just minor points, of course, and just suggestions.

Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

J T Merrill

PBear,

Have you ever checked out < http://odin.mutschler.de/mp3ext/MP3ext.html >?  It's a great property sheet editor for MP3's.  I use it for the quick fixes on a small number of files in multiple places.

Also, about the lyrics, I agree about the wrapping.  But, about the tag itself, I typed some text into the lyric field (using MP3ext above) and it showed up as "Unsynchronized lyric/text transcription".  I don't know if that's what it should say or not, but it's closer to being accurate than calling it binary data!  :)

I'm guessing that TagScanner puts the lyrics in somehow that Tag Studio doesn't understand.  Perhaps it's not according to standard?  Not sure on that one.

I will look into adding options for word wrapping in those boxes.

About the lyrics, Mp3/Tag Studio has no direct support for editing of them yet, but it is planned for future updates. And no, they are not pure textual data, they are binary data mixed with textual data. All pure text fields in the ID3v2 standard are already supported by Mp3/Tag Studio.
