-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: How to mass-rename MP3's started by testmonkey Posted by: testmonkey on Oct. 05 2008,01:08 I hope the problem that I'm about to explain makes sense and I also hope that this program cam help. A couple of weeks ago my HD blew up, so I had to extract all the MP3's from my IPOD. I found a silly free 3rd party program that did the job I wanted. Sadly it did a bit more then I wanted to. (I totally blame my retardation) It emptyed my IPOD and for some reason renamed a couple of my MP3's. It removed all ID3 info from the MP3 and renamed the file its self. If the song was called "Jimi Hendrix - Foxey Lady" the stupid prgram renamed the file " - - Jimi Hendrix - Foxey lady" So I have 500 songs that have no ID3 info, and tall the files begin with " - - " that " - - " makes my ipod crazy, it doesnt know hot arrange it and I have to hunt for the songs like a mad man. Does anyone have any suggestions as how I can fix this with out breaking my mouse and fixing each one by one ? Thanks ahead of time. btw below is a sample of a song, its "Handel - Violin Concerto" so you can see a clear example of what I mean. < http://www.mediafire.com/?qz4ohnmjkhm > Thanks ahead of time Posted by: Magnus Brading on Oct. 09 2008,18:02 Simple. ![]() - - <Artist> - <Title>.mp3 Then, use the "Auto rename" tool with the following template: <Artist> - <Title>.mp3 This process will restore both the values to your tags, and also restore your filenames. end |
