+---Topic: missing feature concerning template strings started by Richard

hi magnus,

while building template strings e.g. for generating lists etc., i can use a great variety of fields concerning per-tag-information or per-file-information. But it would be very helpful if there are some "calculated" fields. By that i mean something like <TrackCount>, which will - starting e.g. with a value of 1 -  be increased with every processed file. This is the most missed field/functionality, because not always every track has its number tag set [correctly].

This calculated field might also be very useful for file-renaming. For instance, the tool Renatager (renatager.de, also in english avail.) uses a field %N (counted number) within its template strings. The files in the listbox can be sorted, and the renaming (and counting) starts with the topmost marked file within the listbox. Using a template 'Track%N' you get from

anthony rother - darkness - 01 - darkness (original).mp3
anthony rother - darkness - 02 - darkness (instrumental).mp3
anthony rother - darkness - 03 - darkness (vocals).mp3

this result:

Track01.mp3
Track02.mp3
Track03.mp3

And i have another suggestion concerning the list generation. Might be some steps ahead, but would be a really cool enhancement:
within an editor window of the list generator you can write your own text (including ansi-graphics, html code or something) and insert the fields of Tag Studio where you want. For this, some important directory based information fields should be included: <TrackCount>, <FileCount>, <SummarizedLengthOfAllTracks>, <SummarizedSizeOfAllTracksInBytes> and so on.
And a special "listing"-field is required, into which the normal template-based listing of tag-information of the mp3-files in the directory can be done. For formatting purposes it would be useful, that the user can set an overall-length of the output row and, corresponding to that, an indicator, at which position in the template the padding with tabs or spaces should be done in order to fit every resulting string into the given overall-length.
The resulting file might look this way:

Album      : Darkness
Artist       : Anthony Rother
Playtime   : 00:32:59
Tracks     : 3
Albumsize : 39.586.744 Bytes
Tracklist   : 01 - Darkness (Original)          05:44
               02 - Darkness (Instrumental)   10:12
               03 - Darkness (Vocals)           15:38
Comment  : Anthony Rothers new maxi bla bla

Ok, thats all with my suggestions. Hope it wasn't too much...
Greetings from Berlin!!!
