When i rip an anthology CD using Windows Media Player, i get files where the artist tag is "Various Artists" and the contributing artist tag is the name of the artist. How do i copy the contributing artist tag to the artist tag so that each file has the actual artist name in the artist tag?

Simply use the Direct Tag Manipulation tool in advanced mode, to  copy data between any pure-text ID3v2 tag fields.
