+---Topic: + Plus symbol using explorer view started by fgump

I use the "Use explorer browse tree" option, however there is a plus symbol (+) next to each folder that would indicate another folder inside it, but the + sign shows up even if there are no sub-folders. I would like the + sign removed.
Is that possible?

Excellent software, very flexible. Keep up the great work.

This is fixed in the latest 3.5 beta (16).

I have the latest 3.5 Beta 16 and can still see the plus symbol next to each folder.
Notice in my screen shot that all of the folders here have the plus sign, but none have sub-folders in them.
When I click on the folder it corrects itself, but I would need to click on each one.
I guess this could be a limitation of Windows Explorer? Could you program in a "Expand All Folders" option?

Judging by your screen shot there, I'd say you've reinstalled MP3TS recently but not added the update patch yet.
Is that a possibility?
Reason I say this is that it should say "MP3/Tag Studio 3.5 (beta 16)" on the windows title bar, but your screenshot doesn't say "(beta 16)".

hello testing, am I logged in now?

Ahh, there we go!

Trying to boost your postcount, huh? ;)

Anyway, I think noddys point is a valid one, why doesn't the program window in your screenshot say beta 16?

Noddy, do you have this plus sign problem in beta 16?

I think I had the 3.05 version installed and then installed the new beta (maybe it was just an upgrade). When I go to Help > About it DOES indicate Beta 16.

Is there a patch?
-edit-
Ok, I just uninstalled and reinstalled the full version of beta16 and noticed 2 things.
1. When using the "-noresize" option, the titlebar changes and I don't see the "Beta 16".
2. Even with a new install, and not using the -noresize option I still see the + signs.

I am starting to think this is a MS Windows behavior and it seems to be related only to network drive letters.
Posted by: Magnus Brading on Nov. 28 2005,22:55

Ah, yes, good guess! (I didn't know it only happened for you on network drives)

That would make sense though, since the operations involved in checking for subfolders would risk inducing annoyingly long delays due to the network latency of each operation, so it is quite likely that it is skipped on purpose!

Upon further investigation I see that there is still the issue within Mp3 Tag Studio (beta 16) and local drive letters. The problem does not show up in MS Explorer.

Im using a very recent fresh install of XP SP2 and all patches.

Another screenshot attached indicating the + symbol where there shouldn't be.
This is a local drive letter this time. I manually expanded each "Volume" directory, but the sub-folders do not contain other folders.
Also note that I am not using the "-noresize" option in this screenshot.

Ok, in that case I think that this bug must have returned when an issue related to its fix was corrected in beta 16 (i.e. some people had other problems due to the fix, so the fix was fixed, and then this must have happened :)).

Since it's a third party control, I have to wait for the authors of it to release a new version, but as soon as they do I'll use it. Thanks for your reporting.
