Update mp3 tags based on online checking Gracenote MusicID (audio recognition, audio fingerprint) like Winamp 5.5 auto-tagger function powered by Gracenote, but with more advanced options : - mass set tags e.g. ONLY set <genre> and/or <year> and/or <tracknum> and/or ... - mass set tags with <album> ONLY if mp3 file does not have this tag - mass set tags with all other tags ONLY if mp3 file does not have this tag ... because Gracenote MusicID service is not 100% precise but sometimes very very useful tool See Winamp Auto Tagger screenshots ... < LINK_1 > < LINK_2 > Thanks ... ![]() Posted by: poppinoff on April 04 2008,16:39 I have to agree with you Adrijan. To quote from the main page: "The complete suite for managing your Mp3:s! You will never again need to keep track of that bunch of small utils to solve your mp3 problems and general managing, this is an all-in-one program and also better and easier to use than practically every separate util that you will ever find! Well, you be the judge. " Years ago I bought a copy of the program because I liked some of its features. At the time I had to use other programs to download album information; with the fair expectation that MP3TagStudio would catch up with the rest of the pack. I'm rather disappointed in that I still have to use other utilities in conjunction with this. If I was currently in the market for an all-in-one mp3 utility I'm afraid MP3TagStudio wouldn't warrant a second look, it's too dated. Don't get me wrong, it does what it does very well; just needs to be expanded. ie CDDB support and handling of other music formats. btw. the Yahoo mailing list hasn't been notifying of updates. Posted by: trikki on June 06 2008,12:03 I'll have to second (third?) this suggestion. This would be a really useful feature for getting all those "year"-tags right. Year-tags are the most common ones that are missing from files copied from friends. All other info is usually correct, or retrieveable from folder or file names. I have to agree that Gracenote database is not perfect, and I personally would not trust it for tagging artist, title or album, but the year-tag is different. To most people it is not very critical information, but a "nice to have", and a close guess is better than no information at all. Currently my personal work flow is: 1. Copy some new albums from friends 2. Make a duplicate of the copied set 3. Retrieve tag info with Winamp Auto-Tagger to the duplicate 4. Create tags to original with mp3ts based on file/folder names 5. Run a little self-made utility that simply copies the year-tag from the duplicate set to the original set in each corresponding file. end |
