+---Topic: Simple CR/LF Fix Destroyed my files started by Iaminept

I did a Simple CR/LF Fix on all my files i have over 10,000 it got the the H's when i stopped it.  i deleted the baks by accident. (dont ask how).  And as noted all those files now have a popping/ repetitive noise throughout them.  Is this reversable without the backups.  If not i just lost about 2 thousand songs.  ouch.  they were all mint condition/perfect tags/192kb+ can someone throw me a pity party?

I'm very sorry to hear that, and I can only hope that you don't feel that the double warnings about only performing this repair on damaged files, and the created backup files, are an unsatisfactory effort from my side to prevent such a thing. :( Is there maybe a way for you to undelete the backup files that you deleted by mistake? There are several special software products existing for such things, and with that much data there should be quite a big probability to recover large parts of it (just try not to use the disk in question until running these tools, it decreases the probability of rescuing a maximum amount of data). Try for example the program "File Scavenger". As for manually reversing the CR/LF repair process on the files, this is extremely hard, if not impossible. :(

I wish you a really good luck with recovering the backup files anyway!

Its ok.  thanks for acknowledgement quickly and with good information.  I can get the files replaced in a weeks time with some effort and help from friends.  I'll just have to put an email out to all my members to aid me in replacing these lost files.  I love the program though.  I must of had an older version that didnt give me the double warning by the way, or perhaps i was that absent minded.  lol who knows. I cant wait till you come out with a new version, a tip on what to add to it would be a casefix for direct rename right in the shell extensions, i have some scripts written if you want to see them.

I'm glad to hear that your files will be ok!

Casefixing is already available in the shell extension, but not direct rename yet. This should all be solved with the updates I'm working on though, so please stay tuned.

What kind of scripts are you talking about btw?

scripts that alter the shell extensions to include casefixing directly in a rename option.  For example. it would be an option saying "Correct File Name using: Standard English USA, etc." however i am at an impass because the script i wrote was too global and it effects the stability of the os.  so ill get back to you.  keep up the great work!

Scripts that alter the Mp3/Tag Studio shell extension, or just an own shell extension? Sounds like fun anyway, you are always welcome to share more info about it here if you want.
