Since this version MM creates no more ID3v1 Tags. Problem: Most Car Steroes expect nothing other than ID3v1.0 or ID3v1.1 Also Problem: MM 8.0 screws up VBR info in the MP3 File. Inside MM all displays well. With all other ID3 Editors the Bitrate is arbitrary (like CBR 32kbits)... To fix this I need two steps: 1. Fix VBR information (using MP3TS). But do you know that you r repair changes Channel Mode from Joint Stereo (MM 8.0) to Stereo (MP3TS) and also that after repair the EncoderID changed from FhG (MM 8.0) to Xing (MP3TS). 2. Copy ID3v2 to ID3v1 (shouldn't be a problem) Any solution for point 1. ?? Andreas. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Aug. 30 2003,22:55 There is no such thing as "EncoderID". Programs that claim to be able to identify the encoder only make (hopefully) educated guesses, based on certain properties of the encoded sound data. Since a VBR header is represented with a special kind of sound data frame (for play-wise backward compatibility), this might confuse some of these guessing programs that are not "educated enough" (this is also why MP3/TS doesn't claim to be able to identify the encoder of mp3:s, since such a thing is always just a guess that is not always 100% certain). The stereo mode issue is also due to shortcomings in the program in question displaying your mp3 encoding information, again caused by the fact that VBR headers are represented with special sound data frames, which must be identified as special cases by mp3 analyzer for it to be able to extract the correct encoding information from the file. And yes, it is wrong some times. end |
