I've been using MP3 Tag Studio for a long time, and I registered it a long time. I upgraded last year to v35b1.

I have a license, and the About screen in my copy shows my name as the registered user.

But suddenly, when I tried to do a mass edit of the files in a particular directory (altering the contents of the Comment field), I got a message saying that my copy of the program is hacked, and urging me to register it. Then the program closed.

I'd done the same thing successfully a few minutes earlier, with another directory, and it worked fine.

Also, when I came to this forum, I discovered that my logon and password no longer worked. It told me it had no James Girard in its records.

Version 3.5b1 is very old, and there is a bug in it that causes the problem you describe, Please download the latest version (3.5b11) and it will work just fine.

About your forum account, it might have been lost during a server crash earlier, sorry about that.

I installed 35b11 over the existing program, but it's still doing the same thing.

It shows the correct version number, and shows me as registered, but when I try to do any mass change to the tags, it gives me that message and closes. It also gives me an access violation now.

Other things still work fine. I mostly work from the context menu, and that still works. So does manual editing. It's only when I try to do mass tag changes.

Yes, you also need to delete the main data file (mp3ts.dat) if you install the new version over the old one, then it will work. (just make sure that Mp3/Tag Studio is not running when doing this)

<deleted by admin, license related details and questions are not to be discussed on the message board>

If I were to uninstall/reinstall, should I reinstall 3.0 (that's the earliest version I find in my archives) and then upgrade to 3.5b11?

Please see my post above, it will solve your problems. For any license related questions, please use email.

You can use the 3.5b11 version directly without any intermediate installations.
