At times I will be making changes in the Browse/Edit tab and will forget to click the Write button before switching to another tab.  The B/E tab already nags you to save your changes if you move to another file, but it does not when you switch to another tab.  Would this be too difficult to change?

The reason for this is that people are not as likely to change tabs undeliberately as selecting another file.

Unfortunately, this people does!  I have a tendency to type something in a field, select the next file I want and click the "Do you want to save your change?" button in passing.  I know, it's a bad habit, and that's why I often lose my last change.

You may want to consider using the very simple saving hotkey instead, i.e. simply pressing the enter button while standing anywhere in any of the fields. :)

How about automatic/silent saving so the user doesn't have to press enter?

The reason for not having such a feature is that it could easily corrupt your tags with simply a litte slip of a button or similar mistake. The enter hotkey is the perfect compromise I think.
