-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Messed around with Auto Tag started by kwelgy Posted by: kwelgy on Jan. 02 2005,06:29 Hi, i just got this proggy, and i decided to mess around with it on my rather large collection of 80's music (not a good idea). So the first thing i tried to do was to replace all "_" with spaces instead. So i used the "Auto Tag" tab to do it. After it finished i closed the tag studio (didnt know there was undo =( ) and went to test it to find that they didnt play no more. I noticed that the file (originally .ogg file types) had changed to mp3's, so i tried changing it back using tag studio, but that didnt work...If anybody could help me, i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for you time ya'll! Otherwise it is a great program! (once you get the hang of it ^_^) Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 02 2005,16:37 If you tell the program to rename the files to ".mp3", it will. Also, the undo-feature works even if the program is restarted. Finally, if some player has problems with the ogg files after adding mp3 tags to them, I would guess it is because it does not recognize the ID3 tag format. You should be able to resolve this by removing the tags completely (e.g. from the right-click menu of the browse tool, or from the mass clean tool). Posted by: kwelgy on Jan. 02 2005,20:06 Well, first I messed around with it some more after messing up my files trying to fix it which is why im guessing why i cant undo it all the way back to the original file state. And i tried renaming files to both mp3 and ogg and they both dont work. I tried removing ID3v1 tag by itself but that didnt work, so i undo, and tried removing ID3v2 but didnt work, then i tried removing both at the same time, but that didnt work also. I tried them on both the ogg and mp3 formats. I use winamp btw to play the files. I noticed that if i change it to ogg, it would display the whole path name of where the file is located but wont play. And if i change to mp3 it would show the title as is should, but it wont show the time length of the file and wont play also. I hoped this helped. Thanks for the reply Magnus! Edit: oh and i forgot to mention im using the the beta 3.5 version. I just hope this is not a glitch =(. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Jan. 03 2005,12:40 It really sounds like something else was done to the files too, since when removing the tags, the files will be restored 100% identical to the state they were before a tagging. Are you removing the tags completely, and not just clearing all the fields in them? If you want to, I can verify that the tags have been removed completely if you email me one of your supposedly "cleaned" files. And just so everyone who's reading this knows, Mp3/Tag Studio is not designed to process ogg files at all, but only mp3 files (or any other file format using the ID3 tag standard for its tags). Posted by: kwelgy on Jan. 03 2005,18:07 WOW, i tried removing the tags again on a different song and it worked! Turned out that the very first song i was trying to fix was the ONLY one that didnt work correctly...everything else now played fine after removing the tags. Im sorry if i may have wasted your time. Thanks for all the help Magnus! end |
