I have just installed Beta 20 and it appeared to install normally but when I click Help-About I get a black area on my screen that looks like graphic I was expecting. I can't bring up the main window either. After a couple minutes the about screen appears but won't respond to anything but a close.
Vista Home Premium
nVidia 8600 ##### card (noted because it looks like a ##### problem)
AVG 8.0 installed but tried it with protection turned off.

Update: after a 2nd reboot I was able to get the program to show the screen and act normally. That was if I loaded the program right after a reboot. I loaded Firefox to check the wiki for information on an album and it started acting unusual again.
Sounds like my vista system doesn't like the nVidia card a whole lot.

This problem with the about screen has been reported on multiple Vista instances, but I sadly cannot reproduce it myself.
Anyway, as you say, the solution should be to just wait for it to take its time, without clicking anything else, and then it will appear eventually (within a minute or so). Very strange indeed though.
