Hi.
Just have to say that I love MP3 Tag Studio (MTS). I think I have tried them all but MTS stands head and shoulders over all the others.
But since more people are starting to use MPEG4 (MP4) will it be supported in a future version of MTS? If it's planned already, great, when?
Also it would be nice to be able to rename WMA files with MTS.

Are most people starting to use mp4? I didn't know they had finalized that standard yet? Can you give any good links to websites with software players and info about mp4?
Ans yes, support for other formats than mp3 is already on the todo-list.

Hi.
Not most, but more and more. I'm not sure how the final the spec on MPEG 4 audio files is.
For instance Apple iTunes are coded in MPEG 4.

Thanks for the links! Do you have any idea if they seem to use normal ID3 tags for the mp4 files in most of the current players, or did some funny guy come up with a new format? Does anyone even have any links regarding this issue maybe?

I have mailed you two files. (wasn't able to upload them here).
The one called "Windows XP Startup (nero).mp4" was coded with "Nero Digital Audio (HE-AAC) (*.mp4)" in Nero.
The one called "Windows XP Startup (changed in winamp).mp4" was edited in Winamp 5.02 and saved.

Hmm, seems like some completely new tag format, I will need full technical specs to be able to read and process it... Aargh, why the hell couldn't they just stick to ID3v2 tags, as if they aren't generic enough...

Thanks for the info, it seems like mp4 tags are something of a jungle at this point, with several proprietary and non-compatible systems.
It is also discussed for example < here >. There seems to be some standards coming up though. I will wait at least until it has stabilized a bit, but please keep the info about it coming anyway. Any pure technical specs about any of the formats are always appreciated in any case though.

Tag&Rename 3.1 beta 1 now supports it. Here is the blurb from the e-mail:
* added mp4 files tags support (tested with Nero mp4, Real mp4 and Easy CD-DA Extractor mp4 files)

I don't know if there really are any greater need to support the Mp4 or Wma, they are very mutch not in use on the net. I suggest an implement of support for Monkey Audio, FLAC, MPC and OOG. These formates are the comming ones.

It seems to me that the WMA format is getting less and less widespread rather than the opposite, so currently it doesn't look good for it, no.

I would kill for the wma feature, I have like 30% of my files in this form and I have to create batch files whenever I want to work with the names.

As above, there are no direct plans for it, due to lack of widespread interest, but you never know, so stay tuned.

I'm not sure why you have indicates that there is lack of use and interest in WMA files because I'm seeing them more and more. So for what it's worth, I'll add my request for support for the format. I currently need to use a second tag program to handle my WMA files.
