So, I have a 3:10:00 file.
I need to trim it so I have the 60 minutes (or so) that start 90 minutes in and end 30 before the end of the file.

Trimming 85:00 off the beginning went fine (with some patience), but when I switch the tool to trim 25:00 off the end, the Playlength after cut: shows 25:00!

Shouldn't it be (190:00 - 85:00) - 25:00 = 75:00?

Please advise.

You cannot tell the tool to trim off 25 minutes from the end. You give it a cut point and then trim off either the part after this point (the end) or the part before it (the beginning), but the cut point is always specified relative to the beginning in any case.

Hence, you have most likely entered the cut point "25:00" and chosen to "cut off the end", which would then result in saving the first 25 minutes of the song and cutting off everything after this. If you want to save the last 25 minutes from that song instead, you should enter the cutpoint "<total playlength> - 25:00" and select to cut off the start.

Needed to grok "... the cut point is always specified relative to the beginning..."
