-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Problem with VBR Mono files started by MusicTrax Posted by: MusicTrax on Dec. 09 2007,12:17 I just encountered a big problem with how MP3/Tag Studio handles VBR mono MP3 files. First, it does not put the correct bitrate in filenames. Both Windows XP and other tagging programs like Tag & Rename do report the correct bitrate. Secondly, MP3 Tag/Studio does not detect that the mono files are VBR-encoded. Instead, they're flagged as being 128kbps mono, which is not correct. Again, Windows and other tagging/library programs (including iTunes) do report the correct bitrate and VBR content. VBR Stereo (including Joint-Stereo and regular Stereo) files work fine, as do CBR mono. Only VBR mono is a problem. Is there a fix for this? Posted by: MusicTrax on Dec. 13 2007,08:16 Yo! Anybody have an answer to this? Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 17 2007,19:46 Sorry for the late reply, I've been away. Thanks for your report, I will look into this. Could you send me a sample file where this happens? Posted by: MusicTrax on Dec. 18 2007,01:31 I've emailed a short file as an example (sent to your "himself" address). It's a 117 VBR mono file that is :25 seconds long. MP3/Tag Studio reports that it's a 128kbps mono file that is :28 seconds long, which is incorrect. With longer files -- say, 3 or 4 minutes long -- the song timing information becomes noticably worse, since the error is at least 7-8 seconds per minute. Posted by: MusicTrax on Dec. 24 2007,12:44 I emailed you the file about a week ago, but have not yet heard back from you. Can you please investigate the inaccurate VBR mono bitrate problem, and let me know when you have a fix for it? Happy holidays... Posted by: Magnus Brading on Dec. 27 2007,18:07 I sadly have not been able to easily find the source of that problem, so I will have to dig deeper into it later. end |
