1) When I right click on an MP3 in Explorer and select the MP3/Tag Studio item, the top of the sub-menu contains information on the encoding, Artist and Title... but doesn't contain the album name, track number or year. This would be useful to "spot check" a track to see if it needs "work". Is there any way to configure what gets displayed in this sub-menu?

Edit: D'oh! I found the "Shell Extensions settings" pane in the Settings dialog after posting this! Oops. :)

2) I'd like to request an option (user preference, whatever) to shrink the space reserved for ID3v2 tags whenever the file is updated.

I often remove extra frames, especially those containing large album art. But clearing those frames does not reduce the size of the file. I realize I could export the tag, clear all tags and re-import, but that is obviously "a lot of work".

In addition, some folks use an excessively large padding by default.

I'd like an option that says "truncate extra ID3v2 padding" (or something to that effect). What I'd propose is that when the option was enabled, the size of the ID3v2 frames would be reduced to the user-specified default padding (so the padding would always be some minimum size), unless the tags wouldn't fit, in which case write the tag with an additional 256 bytes of padding. I realize this would increase the time it takes to update the tags, but only when the size of the padding had to be reduced.

So if my default ID3v2 padding was 2048 bytes, and I removed an 80K album cover frame, when I update the tag, the file is re-written with just 2KB of ID3v2 data (since all the remaining tags easily fit). Yes, this takes a little extra time, but it is a user-selectable preference. But next time when I update the file, no re-writing is required because the padding is already "minimally sized".

Thanks for listening!

1)
File menu --> Settings... --> Shell extension --> Checkbox options :)

2)
Nothing is "a lot of work" with the Mp3/Tag Studio macro capabilities! I'd say one mouse click is reasonably little work anyway. ;)

I will consider your suggestions under point 2 for upcoming versions though, thanks for your feedback!

Just want to say that this is a good idea.
Never tested it myself, but in fact I also delete some (large) infos I don't need in hope to save diskspace.

Because never posted here: Your program is the best I ever found! Great work, pls go on with it.  :)
