-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Renaming for filing clarity started by ggibby Posted by: ggibby on Mar. 26 2005,20:05 So, I've been using MP3 Collector to organize my collection, primarily because it has a 'Generate' function that recognizes an initial 'The' and can also change 'Firstname Lastname' to 'Lastname, Firstname'. But it doesn't write these changes to the tags. Not useful, that. Can MP3 Tag Studio do something like this? -G Posted by: devNull on Mar. 26 2005,21:37 Export the artist's name to a file (template <Artist>) then import it back using <Artist-2[ |]>, <Artist-1[|]> devNull Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 28 2005,12:01 Thanks for the reply devNull, it is not entirely correct though. Rather, I'd suggest exporting the title field of all files that have a title field beginning with "The " to a list (use the filter) and then import them again using the following template: The <Artist-1[|, The]> (export/import the full path of the files too, for easier operation) Posted by: devNull on Mar. 28 2005,21:03 My suggestion was for the "Last Name, First Name" problem. devNull Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 29 2005,10:18 Ok, it was still a bit incorrect in that case too though. ![]() <Artist-2[|]> <Artist-1[|, ]> Posted by: devNull on Mar. 29 2005,11:28 But those are exactly equivalent. At least they both work the same for me. devNull Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 29 2005,12:56 No, they are certainly not equivalent. Your template will require a comma to already be placed between the first and last name, and it will also not produce any comma between the last and first name in the final output. My template on the other hand, will not require any comma, but it will produce a comma in the final output, which is what was described in the inital question. Posted by: devNull on Mar. 30 2005,07:07 Oops, I misread the OP. It seems my way does the exact opposite of what he wanted. :-) devNull Posted by: Magnus Brading on Mar. 30 2005,08:05 Yep, indeed. ![]() end |
