Magnus,
Once some files are selected in the custom file selection field, you can right-click for some selection options.
Currently, those options are:

*Check selected
*Uncheck selected
*Check all
*Uncheck all
*Sort by file name
*Sort by file date

May I suggest another entry which I would find EXTREMELY useful, and I'm sure others would also?

*invert selected files (i.e. check all unchecked files, uncheck all currently selected files)
