However, when I try and do this the program is truncating all info in all fields which is not desired atall. I have unchecked the trucate filename option in settings but this makes no difference. How can I stop this happening ?? Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 16 2007,16:13 I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but there is a limitation in the ID3v1 tag standard that fields can only be 30 characters long. Only the ID3v2 tag can contain longer fields. So, if you're not writing to the ID3v2 tag, or subsequently use a program that only views the ID3v1 tag, the tag fields will appear to be truncated. Posted by: Kalimocho on April 24 2007,17:49 Thanks for replying. I realise that the ID3v1 tags have a limitation, however I do not wish to touch any of the fields in either tags except genre. When I have tried to do this with your program it truncates fields in the ID3v2 tags too. The purpose of me wanting to do this is so I can search by genre on my mp3 player, and I do not wish to go through 1000's of songs editing the genre tags individually. If I could ask you a question... If you wanted to achieve the task I am trying to do, how would you do it? Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 30 2007,16:18 With the default settings, no fields should be truncated in this situation. Have you changed any options in the global settings since installing? If you haven't, you can send me a copy of the problemativ mp3 file, and I can take a look at it. Posted by: Kalimocho on May 10 2007,01:07 The problem happened with default settings, since then I have changed the truncating option, however that made no difference. It would be pointless to send you a file as it happens to all files when I try to edit them in bulk (i.e. more than one at a time) so I'm sure its not a problem with the actual files themselves. Posted by: Magnus Brading on May 14 2007,08:57 The point in sending me a file would be that we'd have an identical working set, which would make it much easier to clear up any possible misunderstandings, which I'm quite sure this is. end |
