I have recently realized that mp3/tag studio is the best tool around for renaming files of any kind.  I remember someone asking why you bother having the option to display files of any type.  It is because this is very useful.

Both direct file rename and rename from list will work on any file in a directory.  As an example, I recently downloaded some data files which (being from the unix world) had no file extention.  I wanted to import them into Paradox, which requires some extention (in my case .txt).  Using direct file rename with patterns

<custom1> -> <custom1>.txt

the job took just a few seconds.

There are a lot of other such jobs which I have used it for, and all cases it is easier and faster than any alternative I have found.

Great, if unindended, tool.

Hehe, yep, I've used it for similar things myself too. :)
