Here's what's new: * Added support for the latest versions of all supported browsers (Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, Firefox 1.0, Opera 7.54, Mozilla 1.7.3, Netscape 7.2). * Added support for the description/comment and keyword/shortname fields for bookmarks and folders, in all browsers where it is applicable. * Fixed a bug that under certain conditions could cause a crash when converting from Opera bookmark collections that contained subfolders in the Personal Bar folder. * Fixed a bug that could cause errors when outputting IE favorites from bookmarks having a leading space. * Added handling of a newly found illegal naming condition in Windows file systems, during writing of IE favorites. * Made the importing code for Netscape/ Mozilla/Firebird/Phoenix bookmark files more tolerant to some custom modifications of the bookmark file that might be done by other third party products. * Known problems in this release: - Microsoft has changed the format of their undocumented way of storing ordering information for Internet Explorer favorites in Internet Explorer 6 SP1. Until I have been able to reverse engineer this new format more fully, only reading of Internet Explorer favorite order information is supported for IE 6 SP1 systems, not writing (i.e. your order of bookmarks might not be preserved when converting to Internet Explorer 6 SP1 systems). Enjoy! Posted by: Gerhard Hossinger on April 19 2005,14:45 Hi, I just installed and tested the Bookmark Converter 3.2 (beta). This is just the tool I was looking for (and even contemplating of writing myself ;-). Great. May I suggest a simple but effective enhancement of the User Interface (GUI)? Please create a unique Shortcut Key "x" for each buttom, so it is possible to "click" by just pressing ALT+x. AFAIK this can be easily done by inserting a character "&" before the desired character in the buttom's "Caption" text. It helps much whenever you repeatedly select with the mouse and then want to do an action (Buttom click), e.g. "Delete selected bookmark from collection". But it is generally a good idea to use Shortcut Keys wherever possible & useful since an (experienced) user is much faster with the keyboard than with the mouse. Thanks a lot. Gerhard Posted by: Magnus Brading on April 19 2005,15:37 I'm glad you like Bookmark Converter. I will look into handling hot-keys better, thanks for the suggestion. end |
