Fun with v2 Comments (not really) started by HeinerBusche Posted by: HeinerBusche on Sep. 02 2002,23:29 Hi Magnus, here are some things I noticed when I fooled around with the advanced v2 comment field I opened the advanced ID3v2 Info for a mp3 file. I insersted a longer text into the comment field. The text was longer than the line but it didn't broke at the end of the textfield. So I pressed Enter at the end of the lines to break it. 1. Back in Browse mode the tag was unsynced (I had the "write to both tags" options checked). It was no comment in v1comment field. 2. The lines which I seperated with enter had in the winamp comment view a small black box insted of a linebreak. winamp seems to brake the lines automatically. 3. The tag is only shown as unsynced and changed after I switch to another file and go back then. It has already been suggested to make the box break the lines automatically, so I'll probably make an option for it in a future update. ---------------------QUOTE------------------- Back in Browse mode the tag was unsynced (I had the "write to both tags" options checked). The ID3v2 box is for the ID3v2 tags only, and hence the comment is written only to the ID3v2 tag when edited from there. ---------------------QUOTE------------------- The lines which I seperated with enter had in the winamp comment view a small black box insted of a linebreak. winamp seems to brake the lines automatically. ---------------------QUOTE------------------- That is a bug in Winamp. They use (and expect) non-standard linebreaks in ID3v2 tags. People have reported it before, and I asked them to mail the Winamp guys about it. ---------------------QUOTE------------------- The tag is only shown as unsynced and changed after I switch to another file and go back then. (refresh problem) ---------------------QUOTE------------------- Ok, you got me there, I'll look into it. ![]() Thanks! end |
