I have run into a situation where Tag Studio is getting an I/O error 27 when tagging by file name.  It leaves the MP3 file as a 0KB file after the error.

This issue just crept up recently in version 2.18 on a Windows 2000 Pro machine.  I uninstalled that version and installed version 3.0 and have the same issue.  I'm not experiencing any issues with other programs...just Tag Studio.

For what it's worth, I use version 2.18 on a similar machine with the same OS with no issues.

Any ideas?

I/O error 27 is an operating system error code meaning "Unable to find the requested disk sector".

This indicates that you have a problem with your harddisk. I would recommend that you perform a full disk diagnostics test, including surface test, of all harddisks in the computer.

Hence, the problem does not seem to be in Mp3/Tag Studio, but in your hardware.

Problem solved!  I ran a defrag overnight and follwed it up by a chkdsk /F and all is well.

Thanks for a great tool and even better support to go with it!
