-Brading Software Message Board +--Forum: Mp3/Tag Studio Support and Bug Reports +---Topic: Error reading main datafile started by Poppicker Posted by: Poppicker on Sep. 11 2003,10:08 More often than not, I get this message when I open TagStudio, it will also give me a error message when I close the program... "Error reading main datafile, using defaults" I've reinstalled several times. This happens on both my PC's which are using WinME. It's no big deal, I just wondered if there is some setting I missed. I forgot to add the program operates just fine.:agree: Cheers PP Posted by: Magnus Brading on Sep. 12 2003,00:23 This can occur due to shortage of so called "user resources" (a special kind of limited operating system resourses, only being limited in Windows 9x/ME). Try not to have any other resource-consuming programs opened when you run Mp3/Tag Studio, or upgrade your operating system to Windows 2000/XP, and it will go away. Posted by: Poppicker on Sep. 13 2003,06:57 OK so this would also cause this message as well as "out of memeory" part way through re-tagging. Posted by: Poppicker on Sep. 13 2003,12:35 Or this one... I can't seem to do anything now I've redownloaded and reinstalled. Still the same. As soon as I go to do any tagging it stops at about the 2nd or 3rd track, with this or similar message. I've tried it on many different files. If I try to remove frames it shows a window "out of memory". If I retag file by file it's ok. But as soon as I do a mass tagging or untagging it freezes. Up until this week it was fine. I've not installed any new software either, although I have run adaware, but that showed nothing new anyway. so I'm a bit confused to say the least. Posted by: Magnus Brading on Sep. 14 2003,17:43 If there is a user resource problem, any program will get really unstable, which can result in errors just like that. Other than that, my only guess is some problem local to your operating system. And I assume that you have not in any way tried to crack the program or illegally license it? Because that might make it very unstable anyway. Posted by: Poppicker on Sep. 17 2003,11:15 No I haven't touched it... and it works quite well on my other pc also running WinME.. Oh well ...I guess I'll need another one... Thanks for your help... end |
