Ok ok I've read the manual (56 Pages when printed) but sometimes it just doesn't make sense to some of us :disagree:

How about a separate forum /room where we (stupid :p people) can post a tag editing request.
For example :
How can I get all my files with no genres into another place to work on them and then put them all back when Ive finished editing them.
Magnus gave me the answer for that one (thanks Magnus).

Anyone who would like to post the answer can do so and hopefully  by  having a starting point we could all learn a bit more quickly as to how it all works.

Im just thinking that if such posts go in the Support Forum it could get full up rather quickly.
So by having a General/Advanced tagging renaming Section Forum people could get straight down to file manipulation.(long word for a Friday)
How about a trial to see what kind of requests people want.
It would also gives the Techno Tag Wizards a chance to show off their knowledge of Mp3/TS.
Maybe starting off with the easy ones for newbies and so on.
The author doesnt have to post just the users who are familiar with it (gives Magnus more time to sunbathe on his private raft).
:agree:
Just an idea,
PS I don't mind looking after that particular room Magnus as it will be full of my posts !! :p
Have a nice weekend people.

I have a few concerns about such a forum:

* There might not be enough people, except me, interested in answering the questions in that forum. Even though these types of questions are completely ok to ask in the general support forum right now, a separate forum for it might encourage people to "ask before they think" to a higher degree, where it would be too time consuming for me to answer all these questions myself. If many questions in that forum then would go unanswered, people will stop asking, and be more likely to think that this message board sucks just in general too. Not good.

* When there are several forums that in some cases seem suitable for the same kind of questions (in this case the general support forum and this new suggested forum), people might become confused, and discouraged to post at all since they are afraid that they might be posting in "the wrong forum". That is of course not good either.

* If posts are spread out over more forums, there will be fewer and fewer posts in each single forum. People might then conclude that the board has very low activity, and don't even bother posting, or coming back, since they don't expect too many people to see their posts anyway. That's not good.

Anyway, I have set up such a forum as a test now. I'll give it a chance, but if it receives too few posts, or apparently results in any of the other negative effects described above, I might very well have to remove it again? Ok?

yes I see exactely what you mean
What Im thinking of is a place where people could go to check about a particular task they wanted doing and if it wasnt there maybe ask.
Maybe people could offer to post tasks that they know how to do.
For example the one you told me about with moving all my files with no genre to another folder and then after editing undo ing  it.
I would like to move that post or maybe copy it and give it a tilte like how to blah blah.
So in the end we could actually use it as a kind of database forum of common and not so common taks.

Yes I agree but you dont have that many forums really. :disagree:
I think the most important thing would be to name the forum correctely so its clear that this is for particular tasks and nothing else.
I d like to be able to see people posting just out of helpful ness. maybe we could start a challenge.
Asking people if they can do a particular task and then seeing what people come up with. Its been interesting already seeing different ways of doing thing by various members.

Just a wild idea there. :D

IMO, this seems like a content management issue. In plainer English: taking issues from the existing support forum and user emails and adding their solutions to the existing FAQ forum.

Hmm, yes, maybe I should make it a sub-forum to the FAQ forum instead? That would solve the issue of people not knowing where to post their questions, and also be more fitting to the model suggested by TokyoElbow (where topics about solutions on how to perform certain operations are moved to this forum, as a sort of database).

Magnus - I think it's a good idea. It would be clear where one posts their questions, plus conversations would not clutter the answer section.

I think the problem is this......

I need to take English lessons.
Im not the best at explaining myself as I cant type as fast as I think   :D

But I think the both of you now have translated my mess of a post into some kind of meaning.
:)

Sub forum would be the idea.

Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew Im glad thats over.   :p
end
