Magnus,
Just wondering, the identifiers you use for the advanced fields (things like <V2_TCOM> and the like), are they industry standards, or are they something that you created?
I'm asking because I'm in discussions with a software developer, and want to organise for composer details and cataloue number details to be retrieved from these advanced V2 tags, by his software (for the purposes of copyright reporting).
So, if I tell him "Dude, it's V2_TCOM tag", will he know what I'm talking about?
Also, is there a tag specifically dedicated to catalogue number? I couldn't see anything in the list that specifically said 'pick me! pick me!'

Bruce.

The "V2_" prefix is added for conveniece inside Mp3/Tag Studio (to express that it's an ID3v2 tag frame), but the last four letters is the frame identifier of this field in question, according to the ID3v2 tag standard. So yes, anyone familiar with the ID3v2 tag specification will know which tag this is if you only give those four letters.

For more info about the ID3v2 tag specification, please see: http://www.id3.org

Sen-bloody-sational!
I've had a look over the ID3.org site, and I'm still wondering... is there a specific tag within the ID3v2 framework that is dedicated to storing the catalogue number of the CD from which the audio originally came?

I cannot see any such frame in the specs myself, but you can see all the declared frames in the specs on that site if you don't trust me on that. :)

Hehe!
Don't worry, I DO trust you. I'd looked through the declared specs and couldn't see a frame specifically for catalogue number..... that's why I thought I'd ask you, seeing as how you've obviously spent a few years working with it.
Guess I'll just have to pick a frame that I'm not likely to need, and use that.
