+---Topic: Strip VBR headers started by Kyle

I've been using MP3TS for the past year or so, and it's great.

A desired feature, that I haven't found in the program, would be to completely remove VBR headers in selected files.

Background: I use EAC to rip a series of CDs (creating CUE sheets), then Winlame (using the alt-preset standard setting) to batch encode the rips. I then use Musicutter to split the whole-album MP3 file into tracks.

I use MP3TS to fix the VBR headers and ID3 info on the split tracks.

However, I want to be able to recontruct the original CD (with the correct gaps, or lack thereof, between songs) - rejoining the tracks to one MP3 file, converting that back to WAV, and using Nero with the cue sheet to burn the CD.

MP3Cat can rejoin the tracks, but in order to get a true gapless join the ID3 tags and VBR headers need to be removed. MP3TS can remove the ID3 tags - how about adding the capability to remove the VBR header?

Thanks for a great program.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I think that this sounds like a good suggestion for an mp3 file split/merge tool, and if I implement such a tool in Mp3/Tag Studio (as is actually planned, just not done yet due to lack of time) I will be sure to include it. As a stand-alone feature I think it feels a bit displaced though, and doesn't really fit good into any category in the program (it isn't really a repair, and it's not tag-related either), so I probably won't include it right now though.
