Would it be hard to add a bookmark validity test?

I would like to periodically test URLs such that
dead links can be flagged for manual review.

Thanks in advance!

I have thought about this, yes. It would require some work though, but maybe in a future version. Stay tuned!

Thank you for considering the addition of a link validator.

I'd like to second that suggestion.  pdpucci, PC Magazine released a tool called < FavOrg > that would refresh your favicons. To do so, the favorite would have to be validated. Invalid favorites were marked as such. The tool always timmed-out on me at work, but it may work for you.

Also, for IE favorites, using Windows Explorer, browse to the folder where your favorites reside, and switch the view to "thumbnails". Explorer will put a thumbnail view of the page in the viewing pane if the favorite is valid. You'd have to manually delete those, and check each folder discretely, though. After doing this, use BMC to convert. :)

It would be cool if BMC did this too, as well as refreshing the favicons. :)

Thank you for sharing your comments.

As you so eloquently described, I have yet
to find any utility that works properly.

The addition of a bookmark validating feature
to Bookmark Converter would be a big help!

Yikes, I almost forgot to add my vote for the bookmark (favorite) refresh feature you suggested!

I agree that it would add an additional level of
convenience and performance.

Look here for a brilliant FREEWARE link-checker, that does the job on most browsers:

Program is called "AM-Deadlink".

8BallDeluxe,

AM-Deadlink worked like a charm. Thanks!

I wanted to suggest that too...
