Q: I would like to try this software, however when I go to the download page -- all I see is 3 links to download updates with note that you must have a base version (3.xx) downloaded and installed first -- however I don't see a base - did I miss something?

I think you aren't seeing the forest for all the trees.
Each of these three entries have both a base version (the link with bigger text) and an update version (the link with smaller text). Simply click on the bigger links (i.e. the ones that are adjacent to the green flash icons), and you will get the base version.
